Highsolv E99 is the ethyl diacetal and Highsolv P99 is the methyl diacetal of Glyoxal.The two colorless, low viscous solvents offer yield-improving and performance-related properties, making them a viable replacement for commonly used toxic and flammable solvents for organic synthesis such as THF, dichloromethane, toluene, and NMP. They are highly versatile, have high flash and boiling points that ensure useful operating temperatures for a wide range of chemical sequences.
Tests have demonstrated the improved efficiency of both solvents in several types of reactions when compared to traditional solvents. These include better kinetics for C-alkylation reaction, better yields for Grignard reaction and simplified product isolation for C-alkylation and Grignard reactions.
Highsolv P99 and Highsolv E99 are finding wide acceptance as reaction process solvents, emphasizing the need for performance-improving, lower toxic solvents in organic synthesis, be it for pharmaceutical applications or other sectors with stringent requirements such as agriculture or fragrances.
